A SINGLE MAN / SÓLO UN HOMBRE, de Tom Ford

April 22 instant, was released in my country A Single Man, named here as only a man . And my desire to see it had been growing since his protagonist, Colin Firth , was awarded the Volpi Cup for Best Actor at the Venice Film Festival in September 2009. On the other hand, was the debut of fashion designer Tom Ford, and the praise he soon expanded throughout the world map.

Only one man stands between those films studied invoice, where from the production design to the soundtrack, to photography and costumes, are conspicuous by their presence in relation to temporary space of the plot.
Based on the novel by Christopher Isherwood , adaptation focuses on the life of literature professor George Falconer, depressed by the death of his partner Jim ( Matthew Goode), decides to end his own life while recalls happy moments in concubinage. In these decisive days, he fights with a friend who wants it, in the skin of a brief but precise involvement Julianne Moore, and flirtation with a student in his class, in the role of Nicholas Hoult, the charismatic partner of Hugh Grant in A great guy.

A Single Man is so well filmed, so just directed a cast as measured and correct, but otherwise lost in emotion and drama. Firth is fine, but it is to play a character very thoughtful and content, and this is seen even in the most sensual scenes, or in chemistry achieved half the friend who embodies Julianne Moore. At times reminiscent of that film starring latter Far from Paradise, and feel as a viewer is similar. Ford

melodrama gets a cold, with good intentions and the best resources, but by averaging the film, there are scenes remaining soporific final product. And the plot lacks twists and situations more relevant, therefore, the average viewing time, and is virtually all that.
