Pretty Woman Polka Dot

Glenda Jackson: la actriz sobrevalorada

Yes, it has a significant presence. And a single voice. His eyes are intense. Is clearly a character actress.
And in general, their roles have been imbued with these doses of tenacity, strong woman, with personality.
But when I speak of "overrated", I mean the excessive appreciation that has taken this as a British actress prizes.
recently saw two films that earned him Oscar category awards for Best Actress in 1971 and 1974 deliveries.
On the one hand, Women in Love, directed by formidably Ken Russell (Tommy ), a film definitely "advanced" for the time. However, the leading quartet, hardly excel Jackson, and is certainly overshadowed by a very young and few times more light, actress Jennie Linden . Jackson is almost secondary, and really excels en ningún momento.
Here
Jackson leveled his partner in a "duel" typical war of opposite sexes and faced quite poor, attending to cries and grimaces that are worthwhile.
For these injustices of the awards, once again, racing for example Glenda by Ellen Burstyn The Exorcist , Joanne Woodward for Summer Wishes, Winter Dreams and Barbra Streisand by Way We Were .

As a curiosity, I must say that neither of the two times he was to receive the Oscar. At the same rebellious attitude against the current Katharine Hepburn also won the award four times greater, and once with some injustice (because know who's coming to dinner? not deserve it.)

I stay, better, with his other two jobs Oscar nominees, for those who did not win: Sunday bloody Sunday of John Schlesinger and Hedda on the legendary heroine of the drama Gabler.

How To Wrap A Brazillian Weave

Familia rodante, sobre Running on Empty, de Sidney Lumet

In Argentina we knew as The Edge of the vacuum . In Spain, renamed Somewhere anywhere. Its original title Running on empty is , and is without doubt the film of the week on my blog.
the prolific Sidney Lumet , with a great script Naomi Forner, and starring River Phoenix, Judd Hirsch (impeccable both) and Christina Lahti (bright and noticeable). Lumet
prioritizes the beautiful and original story, not show off visually, as in many other of his works. However, and without being a huge budget film or anything, the film captures the hearts of the audience in a compelling story and strong, which speaks of ideals, dreams, talents and love found.
Nominated for Oscar for Best Supporting Actor (River Phoenix, but is leading) and best original screenplay (losing to the lower frame of Rain Man).
should have been nominated, no doubt, Christina Lahti, too.

See it.

Headphone Jack To Left Right Speakers

Boyz n the Hood / Los dueños de la calle / Los chicos del barrio

Nominated for an Oscar in 1992 for Best Direction and Best Original Screenplay, both merits of its director, John Singleton .
Then, the filmmaker had 24! Age exceeded Orson Welles, who was nominated in the same categories by The Citizen (and raise her only Oscar for the screenplay of the film). Welles had 26 years.
Singleton, also was the first African American director to get the nomination for Best Director. Just this year, Lee Daniels as secondary for their work on Precious .
Boyz N the Hood was a dream debut that, beyond his virtuosity and originality, he served as a starting point for racing Lawrence Fishburne, Ice Cube , Angela Basset and Cuba Gooding, Jr . in one of its roles more measured and achieved.

Film Board recommends, with a tailwind!

A SINGLE MAN / SÓLO UN HOMBRE, de Tom Ford

April 22 instant, was released in my country A Single Man, named here as only a man . And my desire to see it had been growing since his protagonist, Colin Firth , was awarded the Volpi Cup for Best Actor at the Venice Film Festival in September 2009. On the other hand, was the debut of fashion designer Tom Ford, and the praise he soon expanded throughout the world map.

Only one man stands between those films studied invoice, where from the production design to the soundtrack, to photography and costumes, are conspicuous by their presence in relation to temporary space of the plot.
Based on the novel by Christopher Isherwood , adaptation focuses on the life of literature professor George Falconer, depressed by the death of his partner Jim ( Matthew Goode), decides to end his own life while recalls happy moments in concubinage. In these decisive days, he fights with a friend who wants it, in the skin of a brief but precise involvement Julianne Moore, and flirtation with a student in his class, in the role of Nicholas Hoult, the charismatic partner of Hugh Grant in A great guy.

A Single Man is so well filmed, so just directed a cast as measured and correct, but otherwise lost in emotion and drama. Firth is fine, but it is to play a character very thoughtful and content, and this is seen even in the most sensual scenes, or in chemistry achieved half the friend who embodies Julianne Moore. At times reminiscent of that film starring latter Far from Paradise, and feel as a viewer is similar. Ford

melodrama gets a cold, with good intentions and the best resources, but by averaging the film, there are scenes remaining soporific final product. And the plot lacks twists and situations more relevant, therefore, the average viewing time, and is virtually all that.

Cup Of Noodles After Stomach Flu

Deliver Us from Evil – The Cove

time ago, I first saw Capturing the Friedmans. I got my hands almost by accident, and had to make an effort to see her, and that turns me off the genre "documentary" or better, always prioritized feature films.
I was amazed by this story, for the record, testimony, doubts, ambiguities, and also the facts, evidence, causes and consequences.
was such a hit that it generated in me as a viewer, I wanted to continue feeding on other films and of strong and intense. And I discovered that road Deliver Us from Evil ( Deliver Us from Evil , 2007), filmmaker Amy Berg, and Oscar nominee.
quote the synopsis of Affinity Film: Documentary about the sexual scandals of the Catholic Church in America. [...] Tells the story of Father Oliver O'Grady, best known pedophile in the history of the modern church. Compulsive sexual predator, devoid of remorse, O'Grady used his charm and authority as a religious leader to violate dozens of children from Catholic families across Northern California for over 20 years. Despite the evidence and complaints from several parishioners, the Church hierarchy hatched an elaborate plan to conceal their crimes and discredit his accusers while the father moved O'Grady from parish to parish. Some internal church documents show that he raped and sodomized with the full knowledge of their superiors. Director Amy Berg contacted Father O 'Grady, and miraculously persuaded him to intervene in the filming of the documentary. Using his chilling testimony as a starting point, the film exposes the high level of corruption within the Church within Catholic, and encourage any victims to recount their harrowing experiences. "
The film conveys a lack of power by the apathy and simulated blindness unworthy of the high clergy, and the testimonies of victims, which have become adults, they are moving. The crudest time comes when some of them, with the help of a priest, write a letter to the Pope, and special trips to the Vatican for this. Witness for yourselves what happens. Compulsory viewing, especially in schools in the priesthood, but that's not going to happen.
scares the data on the percentage of victims who are silent testimonies for life, and of around 80%.
In a very different record, with higher production and supported by several NGOs, wanted to see the Oscar-winning documentary feature in the latest installment, The Cove (The Cove, 2009).
Led by former National Geographic photographer Louis Psihoyos, who contacted who was the trainer of Flipper , the charming dolphin that gave birth to the iconic series, currently shown remorse for having been part of start powerful industrial market from the image of dolphins, and what became of there: aquariums, illegal fishing, endangered species, etc.
The film documents the slaughter of more than 23,000 dolphins in a cove in Taiji, Wakayama (Japan). This creek is denied access, and computer Psihoyos and infiltrate happens underwater microphones and high-definition cameras disguised as rocks.
The strength of the recorded images're scared. View a sea portion is stained red from an impact rarely seen.
Of course, here the viewer also visit impotence, to see how Japanese officials made and unmade at will without any laws that make it impossible. Two films
very strong, but it really necessary, humane and honest.

Jackie Chan Brad Pitt Filmjei

El suplicio de una madre, sobre PRECIOUS, de Lee Daniels

Quietly, we could draw an analogy between the Precious suffered protagonist and troubled young Rosetta. But, see, clarify something, to avoid suspicion and controversy: it is not to compare the films of Lee Daniels -black with two films under his belt, and second in their race to compete for an Oscar for Best Director, and Dardenne brothers twice-winners of the Palme d'Or at Cannes .- No established here the strengths and weaknesses of auteur cinema that can practice Dardenne, or narrative patchwork that Daniels submitted to us.
is simply to approach the issue in a more original, as anyone who has seen both films, knows that the roles of Gabourey Sidibe (justly nominated for an Oscar) and Emilie Dequenne (winner for Best Actress at Cannes '99) are victims of a vicious social and family circle.
Following the line drawn, why Precious is considered by some as "visual pornography" and Rosetta is a "masterpiece"? Surely, because Precious has a level of explicitness and the Dardenne morbo always avoided. However, both achieve their objectives: at some point, its characters, or the circumstances, they explode. Precious
is the dialect, the grimaces and certain clichés of the films led by black actors in marginalized characters. From Do the right thing to Hustle & Flow , through Boy'z N the Hood or Sugar, but with the difference that here they hold the reins, for better and for worse, are women . Mo'nique power is overwhelming. From freezing to sound looks insults, shows the presence and essence of a mother to fear, and get Faye Dunaway playing Joan Crawford in dear Mother looks like a serene woman. Gabourey Sidibe, as the daughter suffering and humiliation, has the difficult task of dealing to the bitterness of their context, and this girl knows how to exploit all possible nuances, body and soul. Daniels
, if there are doubts, not measured. Going to extremes, and without any qualms whatsoever makes use of restraint. Before him, his screenwriter Geoffrey Fletcher precedes it. And first on the podium, Sapphire, poet debutant Push novel, the book that inspired the director to record the worst miseries.
Knowing what we know, understanding and being aware of what the film is, and what is the record chosen, is in the viewers judge Daniels. If Danny Boyle
generated an endless war of polemics the much more discreet Slumdog Millionaire, Precious surely be best remembered for the noise it has generated.
As said: the film is well acted and directed, and even writing, with its licensing and elections. But, unlike Boyle's film, there are Precious a film much more susceptible to hatred and rejection, the controversy and fervor, and all that remains opaque over time, or not. And Precious not be remembered as a momentous film.

Easy To Make Cheetah Cake

Al filo del peligro, sobre VIVIR AL LÍMITE, de Kathryn Bigelow

Living on the edge - The Hurt Locker for friends "will go down in history as the first film in which a director gets the Oscar for best director. Most likely, at this point, and according to previous awards, criticism, and the wind. However
: Is Kathryn Bigelow film a great job? Well, she met effectively, but hard to think of this work as great as momentous, and probably in some global sense, hence a couple of years has not kept the prestige it now seems to enjoy.
said, is a worthy film, very well done, rather than right, with several sequences stressful, and a solid cast. But personally I believe too the probability of winning the Oscar for Best Picture. It is not, and from there begin to do more strength than ever Basterds, the only film that takes advantage of several heads, as I see on the big screen, as appropriate, to their competitors.
those who already have seen and lived the pace and tension of the three soldiers Living on the edge, will agree that the highs are a logradísimo start with included guest actor (Guy Pearce ) as well as the sequence in the desert, with another entry soon, this time Ralph Fiennes , or a dramatic effect on scenes where the protagonist is a boy with a bomb in his belly. While averaging the film, the last moments of action does not disappoint.
constantly moving camera, some frames virtuosos, the sound work fine, and flawless editing, do the rest.
Is it sufficient? I guess at this point, as a matter of taste. Bigelow's is clear, and thus devote finished with a material that knows how to handle very well. His Oscar as the director may be unobjectionable, but again I insist on what was said about the bastards, and I have not seen even a director beyond that proud of Tarantino. Jeremy
Renner is the squad leader, and the film, you need to, with all his lines and moments that sometimes pass the cliché. It's an interesting role, but also consider it worthy of nomination. Anthony Mackie and seconded to the office computer.
The Hurt Locker is a good product. Is not indifferent to the viewer. But it is a film round. Perhaps the failure comes from the script, because visually, Bigelow showed he could do the best he could, and really is something, but quite the opposite.

How Long To Live With Chf

Best Supporting Actor

At this point, talk of Oscar Christoph Waltz as the best side is almost a redundancy. It is so predictable and known that it would seem that the ceremony has already occurred quite some time. However, there is still a month, but he already has secured the trophy.
I said at the time, when I saw Basterds in a movie, then I put it right here: "Do not miss one of the most incredible villains in film history-yes, I'm not exaggerating-in Christoph Waltz stranger's skin. " Film Board, 10/03/1909.
affirm without fear of over cruelty and pride in the very lucid interpretation suits Heath Ledger and Javier Bardem , and it is clear that the film would not be the same without him (this will also include the other two, mind you.)
face of such power, the remaining four will also serve as an escort, as the girls Mo'nique. But let me make it clear that I find shameful nomination Matt Damon. I can not understand, are able to forgive. My logic and my senses do not understand. Sounds like a disastrous choice. It is unfair to the other nominees, with a well earned, and much more, for those left out, namely Christian McKay (Me and Orson Welles , would have been nice surprise), Alfred Molina ( An education ) Alec Baldwin ( It's complicated, too bad, his nomination would have meant a greater range of selection); Anthonie Mackie ( The Hurt Locker ).
However, it is a joy to see the "debut" in Stanley Tucci and Christopher Plummer, and the second round Woody Harrelson, who comes to represent the actor is reborn after stagnating a bit, as occurred months Downey Jr. back with , Baldwin or Matt Dillon.
I do not want any surprises here, and I think most of us going, unlike the distaste that can generate Mo'nique's victory. In this case, we want to win Christoph Waltz, and deliver a speech multilingual, as the chameleon Colonel Landa.

Gretchin Bathing Suit

Best Supporting Actrees

Analyzing

categories that matter What would the Oscars without the best actor, best actress, best side, the outstanding cast? Oscar would not, but rather bland and boring.
then fully analyze these four items are worth more than three-hour ceremony, despite the fact that each year, has at least two of the four with predictable and almost undisputed winners. Best Supporting

Actrees
Mo'nique
will, no doubt. The other four the escort. There are two who accompanied her in several awards, one highlighted by averaging the nominations, and a single surprise, more than welcome. Mo'nique is
Jennifer Hudson the year. Actress consolidated by other means (tv here, the music in the case of Hudson), African American, almost film debut with a role as to exploit known as superb. Dreamgirls was a minor film, Precious ... be seen, but Mo'Nique has been a great ambassador, and gained the first to the last award has been nominated case similar to Hudson, with the difference that this could fall at the Oscars if Adriana Barraza Rinko Kikuchi or became surprises for Babel. No one will remember
Mo'nique within two years, as did Hudson (anyone has seen beyond her sad role in the film Sex & the City ?), But you can say that at least in this case, in the areas side, the Academy can really rewarding "best of the year" and not taking into account paths or debt, as often happens on occasion in the main acting items. From
Mo'nique is because the height of a career like Julianne Moore , none for the Oscars, and true is that Penelope Cruz and Vera Farmiga already well solid, with many more projects ahead. The fact is that if you really Mo'nique up a notable role, the Academy will award the 7 March, and then, if you've seen, I do not remember. And not bad that way. Sensations

I did not like to nominate Penelope Cruz. It is clear that it is fashionable. Least if we consider that Julianne Moore was left out or Samantha Morton. So I would have preferred a surprise as Judi Dench , or duo Basterds ( Laurent and Kruger), or Susan Sarandon ...
Anyway, it was a joy to see between five to Maggie Gyllenhaal. Rising actress, great support from Jeff Bridges , literally, is a good opportunity to be offered better roles.

Utopia: see triumph Anna Kendrick, for his beautiful paper in Love nonstop or Vera Farmiga, to a lesser extent.

Other prizes sung in the history of the sport:
  • Mercedes Ruehl, The Fisher King
  • Jennifer Connelly, A beatiful mind
  • Renée Zellweger, Coldmountain
  • Rachel Weisz, The constant gardener

Historical Phoyos Of Girdles

El turista accidental, sobre AMOR SIN ESCALAS, de Jason Reitman

Love
nonstop conveys good film, to appreciate a good comedy with good actors, good script and good direction. Love nonstop is a good idea ...
Ok, start from the base: there are men like George Clooney with such work in charge? Is it a faithful portrait of Clooney a context and a credible framework? I could not say, but with this interpretation, Clooney has made me forget his megastar aura, to prettyboy, heir to the Cary Grant style . Jason Reitman
needed an actor who had all of that (extra) and also an actor, good actor. And Clooney, I must say, here ends consecrated.
Yes, it was fine in Michael Clayton, Syriana or , but more than good I would say different, not so well, not so worthy of an Oscar, but we let it go.
However, one might think that this role would fit well to a Hugh Grant or Richard Gere, years ago. But it seems that Clooney has more ("more talent?), And the result, ultimately, everyone has his sights on it, and criticism, and prizes have responded fabulously.
But also, George gets a great chemistry with his costar, the rising Vera Farmiga, charming, attractive and quite charismatic, perhaps Reitman merit, or the same Clooney. And adding
praise, is the third prong: Anna Kendrick . True revelation, fresh, spontaneous, with presence and character. Yes, okay, the script, rather than good is very good, and this is a movie "actors" / "to actors. "
Obviously, Reitman is very clear, not only here, we should not forget the teams that formed in Thank You for Smoking and Juno The .
So, the combo is a success. Add the three actors, more dynamic road movie, most inventive and polished dialogue, propose and develop more original ... Film nonstop!

La conquista del honor, on Invictus, Clint Eastwood

Mr. Eastwood has a record, a solidity and conduct, for his film, blameless.
a director amounting to eighty (b. 1930) but filmed with the vigor and momentum of a forty, or a young person.
An artist who in the past four years was dispatched with two leaflets (in 2006, Conquest of honor and Letters from Iwo Jima , in 2009, and Substitute Gran Torino), and that the current year is updated with your project delayed biopic about Nelson Mandela.
Much water has flowed under the bridge and, in fact, Invictus, whose original title was The human factor is not exactly a biography of Mandela. It is an adaptation of a novel sports and historic "in relation to the Rugby World Cup 1995, who crossed to South Africa and earned him a political move "movie" to Mandela, which emerged victorious. Discuss
Morgan Freeman as Mandela is to refer to a role that is assigned once (in the popular imagination, and repeated rumors and projects) in this noble actor, for his physical condition and the like, and by their own ambitions, and our viewers want to see him as embodying the former South African President and Nobel Peace Prize. Eastwood
few days ago said something very true: "you will see Invictus thinking of a film about rugby will be disappointed." What they said at least made it clear that the film is not your typical story about a big match or tournament, those that have village cinema history of the U.S. This is the story of how a president in his new position, challenges his own people, their admirers and followers, and surprised his detractors, and those who should be their "enemies" carrying out the plan to revive the historic rugby team in South Africa, although South Africa's image mind to another, racist and discriminatory, biased and elitist, remote from popular outside of the new stand, the poor and excluded, now vote. Reasons more than interesting to be adapted to the big screen.
One of the merits of Eastwood, as present in a melodrama Million Dollar Baby , or in the earlier Gran Torino , for instance, is his ability to tell dramatic contexts, situations and even sympathetic histrionic, and Invictus is no exception. From the group of guardaespladas fought two sides, through Mandela's assistant, or situations among athletes in training, all momentous scenes, but necessary, successful, that enliven and make this film a show sober and intense, with tension just as it progressed, and the prevailing warm, thanks to the delivery of Freeman, in a unique and unforgettable work. He looks comfortable, confident, credible, peaceful and spiritual too. Mandela may be a highly idealized, but in the film the restrained goes well. And Matt Damon, in a sharp supporting role, plays his role with correction, but it is worthy of an Oscar nomination, just as Freeman does not deserve to be forgotten by the Academy, and it is.
Eastwood Is the best the last five years? No, his two previous films are penetrating deep into the audience, are part of the melodrama to which both rigor and authority of Clint implemented. However, Invictus is an interesting film, 135 minutes with no weight, action and emotion, decent film.

This is my list of national films seen throughout 2009. Eighteen, a negligible number for that allows me to analyze how the past year for our industry.

Master and Lord: Juan José Campanella and final consecration. Yes, he had already shown his talent to reach the public with noble and worthy films. But here is reinvented, opted for another kind, came to trust and Darin Villamil, "discovered" and Gioia Francella , and eventually fall in love with the Argentine people in a film that is hard to stress the cons. Just read the soft pale some critics are reluctant to "hate."

Disclosure: Paul Fendrik . Two films, each more innovative and brilliant. Two very different stories, repeated a superb actor ( Arturo Goetz) and a credit to narrate and shoot that only fuels my desire to assist their new films.

Disappointments: Carlos Sorin and solemn Window. Poor level script, acting, tempos. Valid, and reluctantly, only because of their frames. A step backward. Quality

smiling: Music on hold and Matter of Principle were two examples of comedy set almost perfectly, with good pace, strong casts, laughter, adventure, gags and twists achieved.

Women: colorful panorama. Distinguished work Julia Solomonoff , with a very good film in which children countless actors manage to convey feelings and sensations. Warm second attempt to Lucia Puenzo , perhaps even the shadow of the successful this XXY. Corrections and little more than hand Celina Murga, although the critics have loved and supported Scorsese. While Teresa Costantini still filming, this time a "blockbuster" in the hands of a Doria for example, would have featured more. Hated by the critics, that is, Felicitas is a mediocrity.

  2. The blood pours, Paul Fendrik
